Saturday, October 4th, dawned breezy, cloudy and beautiful for a park birthday party. This was my first adventure into "friend" birthday parties, and I must say I was quite pleased with the final product.
We made a princess craft which consisted of construction paper hearts, glue, glitter and ribbon to secure the necklaces around our necks. This worked out well except for the breeze which produced a "glitter shower" on many of the guests :-)
Brent barbecued hot dogs and Gracie gradually moved that bag of Cheese puffs closer and closer to her plate.
Gracie's first "computer"
Some of our guests enjoying the swings. We had a really great time. I found it fun and very appropriate for a 5-year-old. I do not plan to be one of those parents who has to outdo each party each year - I'd rather funnel the money into a college fund :-)
But, I do enjoy creating special days for my girls so they remember that they're loved and appreciated.

What a fun birthday party! I agree that birthday parties seem to be quite the competition--who can do bigger and better. I saw it with my students for sure. It looks like Gracie's 5th birthday was a celebration for her. :)
That is crazy - Where does the time go? Hey, I finally posted on my blog and tagged you for a post. Check it out!
