Holy Week Reflections - Monday

Easter has always been exciting for me. Growing up as a pastor's daughter, church was always part of the celebration - and so were beautiful Easter dresses, Easter egg dying and hunting, chocolate bunnies, jelly beans, and all the finery. Amidst all this trivial stuff though, it seemed to me as a child to illicit excitement - a sense that something big was to be celebrated. My heart always swelled with awe at the refrain of "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" and I would belt it out (still do, actually). As an adult, it's even more exciting and significant. My challenge is to create meaningful celebrations with all the fun stuff, and ensure that my girls experience the same sense of awe and appreciation for Christ's sacrifice and victory. Monday was simple - playdate with a friend and lunch at the park - it would build from there.
