August 24th was my parents' 40th wedding anniversary. They continue to be a marvelous example of a happily married couple. I wish I had a scanner because it would be fun to scan in a wedding photo to compare to this one. I think they've aged quite gracefully :) We had a celebratory swim/BBQ at our house to honor both their anniversary and Tom's (my brother-in-law) birthday. As we sat around the table eating, talking, and laughing, I was struck by what a gathering has resulted from their vows to each other 40 years ago. Three daughters, two official sons-in-law, one up & coming (that's not an announcement, we just really like Carlos), two sweet, precious granddaughters. And none of us would be at the gathering if it weren't for them and their commitment to God and each other.
I am blessed to have parents who have been such exceptional role models. Not only are they committed to each other and Christ, but they're committed as partners in ministry. It's not unusual for them to be working in some area of ministry together. Usually it involves delightful hospitality in their home to people who desperately need a sense of community. They exude the love of God in just about everything they do. Their marriage is one I would wish for everyone.

Wow! 40 years! I need to send them a belated anniversary card. Your parents HAVE touched so many lives. I love them to pieces and are so glad they met and married!
