Joy Graduates and Michelle finally learns the title of her degree!

Friday, Mom, Dad, Alecia and I traveled to Pasadena, CA to attend Joy's graduation from Fuller Theological Seminary. She earned her Master of Arts in cross-cultural studies with an emphasis in urban missions, and it took me the entire length of her program to learn how to say that and remember all the elements :) She now plans to enjoy repaying her student loans and not writing papers. She says she's done with school, but I'm betting there's a Ph.D. in her future somewhere. Dr. Leveen will emerge somewhere or perhaps Dr. Brouwer-Leveen - whichever one sounds more distinguished and academic!! It was held in Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena which seats 5000. It was just about full with enthusiastic family and friends. The President gave a stirring charge and various students spoke throughout the ceremony. It was the largest graduation in Fuller's history and very meaningful. Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in Orange County and author of Purpose-Driven Life received a distinguished alumni award and gave the benediction which was rather inspiring. Toward the end, all of us in the church stood and sand "All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name." I got a little emotional. I thought, "How cool is it that all of us here love Jesus and are commissioning these fine graduates to go out into the world to serve Him." I was a very proud big sister.
Here she is walking across to receive her diploma - it's darker than I wanted it to be.

I love the super-supportive smooching sisters thing. What is that called again when you repeat a sound all the time? Assimilation? Association? Application? What is it?
