Book Endorsement

I know, I know - it's been two weeks since I've posted. So, so sorry. Life has continued on as it does in a rather routine way after the crazy schedule of Las Vegas trip, Vacation Bible School, Father's Day and Brent's New York baseball trip. (He went to Yankee stadium before it was torn down, walked all over NY, and attended a Diamondbacks-Red Sox game in Boston with his youngest brother and a couple of friends from church.) As a result, I haven't found anything incredibly creative to blog about. I'd blog about his trip, but I didn't go, so it wouldn't be much, plus the pictures he took came out pretty blurry from his phone camera. So, there ya go - enough said about that.

Okay, on to the title of this entry - Book Endorsement. I've never done this before, but feel it is imperative at this point. You simply must read the book The Shack by William P. Young. It is outstanding. A fictional novel set in the Pacific Northwest, it tackles the problem of pain like I've never heard or read before. At the same time, it explains the trinity and all three aspects of God in a non "brain freeze" way.

Here, I'll give you a summary: Mack, the main character, has what the author calls The Great Sadness - he and his family have been dealt a terrible tragedy. He receives a note from God in his mailbox inviting him to the very place where the tragedy occured. He goes with every intention of "telling God off" if He's even there and discovers the true heart of God toward His children. It is compelling and absolutely wonderful. I laughed, I cried, I'm telling everyone about it. You must read it! There, I'm done.

Oh yeah, I just joined a book club, so if I read any other "must reads" I'll post!

Ooh...the book looks very interesting! I have been looking for a new book to read, and this looks like a good one. Thanks for the endorsement! :) Oh, and tell Brent he can come to family reunions and ride Misty any time he wants!

Oh, that looks good - Did you join the book club that Kari is starting? I know she had talked to mom about it and I have been meaning to call her.

Anyway, looks great!

Alright, so you might even get this chica to read it.

I would actually love to read about the trinity in a non brain freeze kind of way.

And I totally think that an English teacher should do book recommendations! :)
