I watched your inauguration today. I continue to be impressed with this fine country of ours and its leaders. I enjoyed the pageantry and tradition that surrounds this highest office. I was moved by the significance of your oath using President Lincoln's Bible. I was amazed at the tremendous crowds that lined the mall, all to watch this historic event.
While I did not vote for you (we differ on some policies), I am rooting for you. You seem to be a very forthright, respectable man. What you have accomplished is outstanding. The significance of electing the first African-American to this highest office is not lost on me, and I cheered that historic event. I appreciated your gracious farewell to our now former President. You do not seem to join the vitriol (sp?) of some of your supporters. I respect that about you. I have observed you being a loving and faithful husband and father. To me, that's a big indicator of what kind of man you are. You also seem to embrace the same God I do. It was apparent to me by the look on your face today, that you were ready to take on this responsibility but would also covet the prayers and support of the American people.
So, I pledge my support for you as my President. I promise to voice my differences with you in a calm and respectful manner. I promise not to criticize you unfairly. I promise to pray for you and your family throughout your Presidency - that our gracious God would give you everything you need for leading this great nation.
I wish you well as you begin your new job - have a good first day tomorrow!
Sincerely,
Michelle Cornelius
